FAMILY
Father’s Day special
By Melissa Thibodeau
Make Daddy’s day unforgettable, not just by showering him with all the super-cute crafts the kids will make, but by spending the day doing things he’ll enjoy too. Don’t forget your camera!
Here are 10 creative suggestions:
1. Take dad
to the spa
Mani, pedis and facials aren’t just for moms. Think of the laughs you’ll all have sitting there together.
2. Plant a tree for dad
A week before Father’s Day choose a tree from the garden centre that “reminds” you of Dad. Have it delivered for the 19th and plant it together.3. Play mini-golf
Find the coolest (or cheesiest) mini-putt in your area and enjoy a round together.
4. Hike a new trail
Pack a picnic and head out to a new trailhead where the final stop is breathtaking.
5. Taste wines at
a local vineyard
Most wineries are kid-friendly and offer tasty treats that pair well with the beautiful surroundings.
6. Get messy outside
Make double batches of rainbow elephant toothpaste and let it rip! This is fun for everyone, including dads.
7. A 6-pack
beer sampler
Choose 6 different cans or bottles of locally crafted beers for Dad to try throughout the week.
8. Make dad’s fave
meal on the bar-b
You all know his favourites. Let Dad catch up on his sports news while you fire up the grill.
9. Go for
a bike ride
After dinner, go for a bike ride through nature. If that’s not possible, bike to an ice cream stand.
10. Enjoy a movie
under the stars
No projector? No problem! Simply (carefully) move your TV outside. Candles, pillows and blankets make it cozy and don’t forget the popcorn!
